Mortgage Rates Slide

The Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) reported that nationwide average mortgage rates fell in the past week. Freddie's Primary Mortgage Market Survey listed average 30-year fixed rate mortgages at 6.18%, which is down from the 6.22% rate reported by Freddie the previous week.

15-year fixed rate mortgages showed an even greater decline from 5.97% reported the previous week to 5.92% reported in the latest survey.

5-year adjustable rate mortgages slipped to 5.93%, which is down from the rate of 5.97% reported previously. One-year adjustable rate mortgages bucked the downward trend, however, by remaining unchanged at 5.49%.
